Living an expat life always seems very glamorous to our family, friends or relations who have never moved to other countries, sometimes even town. Oh yes you have decided to move, and have convinced the whole family (and yourself) that it is for the better...
Don't you dare to complain...
But... the truth is that sometimes settling in a new country, regardless of the fact that you are the working one or the "follower", often takes more than just wanting to fit in your new life. New school system for the children, language barrier, culture barrier, immense solitude in front of the supermarket shelf when you cannot read the labels, make new friends again...
And who is going to listen to you? Be compassionate and listen to the good and the bad of the situation without judging? Challenge you and support you in your new projects? Because coaching is not just listening, it is being alongside you to make you take action, reframe situations, set and reach goals, acknowledge situations, create a vision of what your new life could look like... All in a safe and confidential space.
Anxiety, depression or any other serious psychological issues must be dealt with by the appropriate medical doctor. Coaching helps but cannot substitute medical treatment. Coaching and medical treatment can be done simultaneously.
